Hand Painted Candle

This started as a practice in painting brass but then i got carried away!

Sculpt, retopo, bake then using the maps to generate texture in Painter in the Diffuse. I built up the BW pass, added gradients and then did some final layers for color variation and exported, diffuse only to Unreal5. After that i followed Traggey's guide and just romanced the settings until i got somewhere that looked good to me.
It still feels weird to paint metal with a light source in mind and then add a sky but this is all just testing and practice.

The concept is from the amazingly talented Mariia Tverdohleb and can be seen here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/GY6Dz
I used the wonderfully helpful Traggey's Guide to HP in Unreal which can be found here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ybrJgR
I also used Alexey Fedorov's tutorial to do the flame texture and animation (designer to unreal): https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VgaGBZ
